You asked about water

How much water does AI drink?

Data centres use water to keep their computers cool, and power plants use it to make the electricity. Both count here. Answer four quick questions — if you’re not sure, the defaults are fine.

Question 1 of 4

Which AI tool?

Open tools are mostly measured in published studies. Companies behind closed ones (Midjourney, GPT Image…) don’t publish figures, so those are estimates with a wider range.

How many images?

How big?

Bigger images take more computing. Not sure? Leave the default.

Where in the world?

Electricity is cleaner in some places than others, which changes the carbon. Not sure? Keep the world average.
